Product Description The Intel Core 2 Duo processors are built in several of the world's most advanced, high-volume output manufacturing facilities using Intel's leading silicon process technology. The processor family is based on the revolutionary Intel Core microarchitecture, designed to provide powerful yet energy-efficient performance. With the power of dual cores, or computing engines, the processors can manage numerous tasks faster. They also can operate more smoothly when multiple applications are running, such as writing e-mails while downloading music or videos and conducting a virus scan.a virus scan.ecture, the Intel Core 2 Duo desktop processor delivers revolutionary dual-core performance and breakthrough processor energy efficiency. With Intel Wide Dynamic Execution, Intel Smart Memory Access, Intel Advanced Smart Cache and Intel Digital Media Boost, this new processor is designed to do more in less time. Additional features to support enhanced security, virtualization, and 64-bit computing make the Intel Core 2 Duo the most impressive new processor developed for an increasingly multimedia-centered, high-definition world.Design changes in the Intel Core 2 Duo processors that improve performance also increase processor energy efficiency by operating at lower frequencies that require less power to run. Intel Intelligent Power Capability optimizes energy usage of the processor cores by turning on computing functions only when needed. This more energy-efficient processor supports smaller, more capable, and quieter desktop PC to conserve critical power resources.

Great processor. Very fast. March 16, 2008 Brandon S. Newcomer This is my first Intel processor. I've always went with AMD in the past. This Core 2 Duo E6600 processor was a little pricier than the AMD offerings but it's plenty fast and powerful for my needs (light gamer, audio recording/editing). I paid $230 and I think I got a good deal on a great processor. Purchasing through Amazon went without a hitch also.
I have a need: a need for speed February 17, 2008 G. Michael Murphy (St. Louis, MO) I process thousands of digital photos, and I needed to increase the speed of that processing without busting my budget. I wanted to jump to a quad-core processor but my mobo couldn't support it. I pulled the 6320 processor at 1.86 GHz and replaced it with the 6600 at 2.40GHz, and got the 30% boost in speed that theory predicts. It certainly helps reduce my waiting time, and time literally is money for me.
Wonderful processor, very good overclocker February 6, 2008 BENMESSAOUD (Doha, Qatar) I got this product from another seller, I installed one in my gaming mob with an ASUS P5N-E SLI with a stock fan and heatsink and another with a Gigabyte DQ6 with a Ninja heatsink. What I can say is that this product is perfect and very good performance. For the overclocking it is almost the best one for the money. If you want performance for less than 200 $ than you should definitely go for this processor.
This CPU will eat Vista January 18, 2008 Splambaster This CPU eats Vista alive, under optimal specs, boots Vista Business x64 in 20 seconds. Overclocks like a champ, almost as if intel built it with that in mind. Stable at 3.6ghz 40C at maximum load on air cooling. This CPU is also great for DVD editing/compiling, and blows my faster AMD 6400+ away. I almost regret not buying this CPU sooner.
Good dollar : performance value January 7, 2008 Ricardo Miller (Jamaica) This is definately one of the best value for money you can get for a dual core processor. I am using it to run Vista Home Premium and it is no problem in terms of performance. My only problem though is that it is the limiting factor in my PC. My Vista performance index for my computer is 5.3 This overall value for the computer is based on the lowest value given to key components such as graphics, procesor, ram and hard drive out of a possible value of 5.9....and guess what, my processor is the component with this lowest value. While it is clear that this is not the best processor out there, it gives good performance and is a good start for a later upgrade. If you are a DIY person, get a good motherboard that can eventually accept an upgraded processor and change this when you feel the need for something better. If you plan on keeping this processor for a long while then buy components that match its performance or else (like in my case) the processor may be holding back things like your graphics card (which for me is a PNY Nvidia GeForce 8800 GTX 768MB Graphic Card...given a value of 5.9). Overall it is a good buy with one of the best price to performance ratio out there.
